Le 09 avril dernier, Lemon Sounds nous offrait le premier concert en plein air de la saison au studio Kawati à Strasbourg. Initialement prévu en intérieur, les organisateurs ont relevé le défi de tout déplacer dans la cour en une après midi. Des canapés baroques et des tables basses en bois pour habiller l’extérieur industriel, et un vieux tapis persan pour délimiter l’espace scénique entre les amplis: très classe. Un endroit intimiste et cosy parfait pour la soirée.

C’est ainsi, après les réglages sons, que le premier groupe, Undervoid (Facebook ici), s’installait. La toute nouvelle formation déballe tout et fait l’unanimité alors qu’ils n’en s’ont qu’à leur deuxième concert. Un bassiste assis à cause d’une récente blessure ne l’empêchant en rien d’envoyer le son, un batteur déchaîné, un chanteur engagé et un guitariste aux airs Dohertyiens accompagné de sa Gibson. Des titres rock, alternant les textes en Anglais et en Français, un pari réussi pour les Strasbourgeois. Mon regard était bien entendu tourné vers le jeu du guitariste sur sa Les Paul. Je vous laisse découvrir deux titres ci-dessous dont la seconde, mélange réussi entre les Dropkick Murphys et L’Apologie de Matmatah. On espère les revoir bientôt !

C’est ensuite au tour des Last Train, bien présents sur le blog ici, ici et ici, de prendre les rênes de la soirée. Dans une ambiance de proximité, Jean-Noël (chanteur/guitariste) nous demande de nous rapprocher et c’est parti. Ils lâchent les chiens et se déchainent sur une setlist bien trop courte. Demain ils seront au festival du Printemps de Bourges et bientôt ils fouleront la même scène que les Black Rebel Motorcycle Club au Musiques en stock. C’est une belle avancée pour toute l’énergie et le travail qu’ils développent, amplement mérité !

Last April the 9th, Lemon Sounds offered usthe first concert outside of the season. It was in Kawati studio in Strasbourg (France). At beginning, the concert should be inside, but organizers of the event took over the challenge in one afternoon. Some baroque sofas, wooden tables to wear the industrial courtyard and an old Persan carpet to delimit the stage. An intimist and cosy place perfect for the night.

So, after soundchecks, the first group, Undervoid (Facebook here) set up. The new group display everything with unanimous support whereas they play only their second concert. A bass guitarist sat because of injury but not stop to send sound, a wild drummer, an engaged singer and a Doherty guitarist looklike with a Gibson. Rock songs, alternating English and French lyrics. Well done job for the group from Strasbourg. My eyes was almost attracted to guitarist play on his Les Paul. Then it was the turn for Last Train, so oftenly mentionned here, here and here, to take over the reins for the rest of the concert. In the intimist mood, Jean-Noël (singer/guitarist) asked us to get closer and let’s go. They let go everything on a too much short setlist. Today (28/04), they played at festival Le Printemps de Bourges and soon, they will play on the same stage than Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at Musiques en stock. A so big progress for all energy and work, well deserved !

Mercredi dernier, j’ai pu assister au concert très intimiste dans la salle club de la Laiterie (Strasbourg) de Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, Kitty Daisy & Lewis sont issus d’une famille musicale et délirante. C’est accompagnés de leurs parents sur scène que la fratrie d’une moyenne d’âge de 24 ans débarquent avec leur univers rockabilly et parcourt les salles à guichet fermé.

Les ayant déjà vu deux fois à Rock en Seine, j’attendais avec impatience leur venue dans une petite salle. Toujours en look rétro notamment avec les sœurs en combinaison à paillettes, les cinq anglais nous font voyager dans les différents mouvements musicaux des années 50 avec talent. Le père à la guitare acoustique et au xylophone, la mère à la contre basse ou à la basse, et Kitty, Daisy et Lewis alternant chant, guitare, clavier et batterie. The third, leur troisième album contrairement aux deux premiers n’a pas été enregistré par eux mêmes mais produit par Mick Jones avec des guest. Et quelle bonne surprise de voir apparaître Eddie « Tan Tan » Thornton sur scène pour les accompagner à la trompette, un sacré personnage et talentueux.

Un live dynamique avec les changements d’instruments à chaque chanson pour le frère et ses sœurs, Kitty qui bluff tout le monde avec son harmonica et Daisy si impliquée à la batterie qu’elle semble partie ailleurs. La complicité dans la fratrie joue beaucoup dans cet équilibre et chacun a droit à son moment. Petit coup de cœur pour la chanson Whiskey chantée par Kitty, et le solo de Lewis lors de la présentation en fin de concert. Et après un concert sans relâche et un public conquis depuis longtemps, deux titres du premier album, Going up the country et en second rappel, mean son of a gun.

Last wednesday, I went to the intimist concert in the Laiterie Club (Strasbourg) to see Kitty, Daisy and Lewis. For those who don’t know yet, Kitty Daisy and Lewis come from an amazing and musical family. It’s with their parents on stage that brothersand sisters aged above 24 years old show up with their rockabilly world and cover concert halls to packed houses.

I already saw them twice at Rock en Seine, and was waiting impatiently their come in a small hall. Always in total vintage look in particular with sisters in sequined overall, the five English musicians make us travel in different 50′ music universes with talent. The father on acoustic guitar and xylophone, the mother on contrabass and bass, and Kitty Daisy and Lewis alternating on singing, guitar, keyboard and drums. The Third, their third album has been on the contrary of two first album recorded by an other person, Mick Jones, with guests. And what a good surprise to see Eddie « Tan Tan » Thornton on stage, a damn good trumpet player.

A dynamic live with changes of musical instruments at each song for brother and sisters. Kitty bluffing everybody with her harmonica and Daisy, so much involved in her drums that she seems to be in an other world. The complicity between brother and sisters takes a great part of this balance and everyone has his own moment. My special favourite things are Kitty singing Whiskey and Lewis guitar plays solo at the end. And after without respite and a public really entirely won over from a long time, two songs from the first album, Going up the country and Mean son of a gun.
